This class provides a comprehensive introduction to Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), covering their definition, composition, and role in modern construction. Participants will explore how SIPs are manufactured and installed, along with the history and building science principles that support their performance. The session also addresses key considerations such as liability, as well as the advantages, limitations, and return on investment associated with SIP construction. Designed to offer both foundational knowledge and practical insight, the class concludes with an interactive Q&A to address real-world applications and questions.

Matt Mitchell is the owner of James Andrews Custom Homes and has worked as a builder and REALTOR® since 2002. He specializes in high-performance, energy-efficient homes and is passionate about building science and sustainable construction. Matt holds degrees from North Lake College, University of Texas, and Dallas Theological Seminary. He served as president of the Dallas Builders Association during 2020–2021 and has held several leadership roles within the organization.
